The first of two recycling days sponsored by the Crawford County Solid Waste

The first of two recycling days sponsored by the Crawford County Solid Waste Management District will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the front parking lot of the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Bucyrus. Crawford County residents only can drop off household hazardous waste at no charge.

Items that will be accepted include household and garden products such as cleaning solutions, drain cleaners, rodent poisons and aerosols, pesticides, insecticides and fungicides, photographic chemicals, household batteries and pool chemicals. Automotive and workshop products such as paints, lubricants, paint thinner, lacquers and varnish, sealants, glues, antifreeze, asphalt and roof coating, motor oil, and lead-acid batters also will be accepted.

Electronic collection events are planned for Sept. 16 and Oct. 28 at the fairgrounds.

The Ohio Department of Development and Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission will help income-eligible Ohioans with water and wastewater assistance. The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying water and wastewater bills. The program runs through Sept. 30.

To apply, clients are required to contact Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission at 740-387-1039. Ohio Heartland CAC serves Crawford, Marion and Morrow counties. To be eligible for the LIHWAP program, clients need to be at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and must provide copies of their most recent water/wastewater bills, a list of all household members and proof of income for the last 30 days or 12 months for each member, proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency for all household members, and proof of disability (if applicable).For information, people can contact Ohio Heartland Community Action at 740-387-1039 or their local energy assistance provider at 800-282-0880 (hearing impaired clients may dial 711 for assistance) or visit energyhelp.ohio.gov.

FOSTORIA — Stephen Reinhard of Bucyrus has been elected to the board of directors of AgCredit, one of northern Ohio's largest lenders to farmers, agribusinesses and rural homeowners.

Reinhard represents Region 7, consisting of Crawford and Morrow counties. He has been involved with the Ohio Soybean Council, United Soybean Board and the Airable Research Lab.

A support group meeting for people with problems seeing will meet from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in the community room at the FC Bank on the square in Bucyrus.

Members of the group discuss how they deal with reduced vision due to conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye problems, glaucoma and other diseases that affect their sight.
